It was to be the perfect summer for the rising fourth graders of South Burbanks County. Everything changes when racial strife and greed threaten their community. Playing baseball, or hanging out at their houses, George and Kaden are almost always together. The same could be said about Micah and Delvin. Unfortunately, the pairs of best friends share one thing in common: the mutual dislike between George and Micah.

George and Kaden have light skin. Micah and Delvin have dark skin. This never mattered, until suddenly it did. With Jeremiah stuck in the middle, the boys battle and bicker until things get out of hand. Suddenly, the boys are painfully thrust into the world of grown-ups, a place where the color of skin is only overshadowed by the value of money.
