Flight attendant turned New York Times bestselling author T. J. Newman’s adrenaline-fueled thriller about a commercial jetliner that crashes into the ocean and sinks to the bottom with passengers trapped inside—and the extraordinary rescue operation to save them.
Six minutes after takeoff, Flight 1421 crashes into the Pacific Ocean. During the evacuation, an engine explodes and the plane is flooded. Those still alive are forced to close the doors—but it’s too late. The plane sinks to the bottom with twelve passengers trapped inside.
More than two hundred feet below the surface, engineer Will Kent and his eleven-year-old daughter Shannon are waist-deep in water and fighting for their lives.
Their only chance at survival is an elite rescue team on the surface led by professional diver Chris Kent—Shannon’s mother and Will’s soon-to-be ex-wife—who must work together with Will to find a way to save their daughter and rescue the passengers from the sealed airplane, which is now teetering on the edge of an undersea cliff.
There’s not much time. There’s even less air.
With devastating emotional power and heart-stopping suspense, Drowning is an unforgettable thriller about a family’s desperate fight to save themselves and the people trapped with them—against impossible odds.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
In this fast-paced thriller, a commercial jet crashes into the ocean, throwing the surviving passengers into a dangerous race against the clock. Will Kent and his 11-year-old daughter are among the 12 passengers who survive after their plane plunges into the Pacific soon after taking off from Hawaii. To save the trapped passengers, Will must join forces with the rescue diver who comes to their aid…who just happens to be his soon-to-be ex-wife. T.J. Newman, a former flight attendant turned best-selling author, mines her extensive airline experience to create a devastatingly realistic and nerve-racking scenario. Drowning is both a terrifying thrill ride and a passionate family drama.
Customer Reviews
Eh. That Ending.
4 Stars. Excellent right up to the very end where it lost me just a little bit. Some will agree with me about the end, others won’t but it was a disappointment. Up until then it was as good a thriller as I have read. Newman is very, very good. Looking forward to the next one, perhaps minus the sappy spirituality ending. It just felt silly. On to the next.
Thrilling book
Couldn’t wait to read next thing. Keeps you guessing till the end
Great
Great book and an interesting concept. With the subject matter, this could’ve been a much longer, boring book, but I appreciated that it was fast-paced and you can tell it was well-researched. Great read for someone who likes thrillers!
