Dyeing for a Verdict

Celie Dupree thought her life would return to normal after solving her first murder, but normal isn't a word used often at The Bayou Bouffant. Celie's clientele now includes the recently departed, and her latest client is none other than Mayor Delia "Dee" Fontenot, who literally died in Celie's styling chair, poisoned during a shampoo rinse.

Detective Miles Corbin finds himself in a reluctant alliance with Celie. While he battles to keep her out of the official investigation—and fend off the jealous local police—he can't deny Celie's impossible track record.

The case is blown wide open with the arrival of a new, temporary ghost: Blythe Everleigh, the spectral resident of the Mayor's office who knows 150 years of town secrets. While Celie's original ghosts—the Flapper, the Housewife, and the Soldier—resent Blythe's comprehensive knowledge, they reluctantly enter a spectral competition to prove their intimate, domestic-level gossip is more valuable.

As Blythe uncovers a decades-old blackmail scheme and Celie's spectral crew zeroes in on a seemingly innocent salon client, Celie must untangle political corruption and generational secrets to find out who wanted the "well-loved" Mayor dead... before the poisoner schedules their next appointment.
