Documenting Southern California Sub-Culture
The EDMLA Yearbook, the first in a series created by media collaborators: Swan Foto and Lee Underwood is an amazing educational odyssey of the Los Angeles electronic music scene and underground sub-culture of Southern California's current dance movement. The still shot photography by Swan, along with the articulate and insightful commentary, by Underwood, bring the energy, movement and color of the hypnotic sensuality of the scene to life and makes for a fascinating read.
Wow
I'm not even a part of this scene and I absolutely loved it. Gritty, glamorous, high-octane stuff. What an education! I can't understand how these guys got all these amazing shots. This is true photojournalism at it's best. They showed us a whole culture/world from an inside perspective. Keep up the good work boys!
Labor of Love
Creating this was a great labor of love. Our hope was to present an intimate portrayal of a massive cultural movement in Southern California (and the whole world for that matter). But we hope you will be the judge of that for yourself. If you've been a part of this movement, you're likely to be featured in this book, and if you haven't, a great education awaits you. But regardless of your personal involvement in today's Electronic Dance Music or yesterday's underground rave scene, we're very confident you'll be struck by the imagery and drawn into this "secret world" of soul-shaking music and wild fantasies of epic proportions.
