Publisher Description
These poems explore the distance between the head and the heart—and all of the pain, beauty, and hope in between.
This book is one woman’s account of her longing to know herself fully. Her mind, body, and soul. This book might make you cry, fill you with nostalgia, empower you, or even give you hope. You might not see eye to eye with every idea inside, but with any luck you’ll see your soul reflected in its pages. You will question things. You will remember your past. You will be thankful for your present. You will dream a new dream. Above all, you will feel. Welcome to the journey of Eighteen Inches, a battlefield between a woman’s beat-up heart and her complex mind.

Intensely Good
For me this book had me reflect on a lot from my childhood to my present self. The poetry, the experiences I can relate to that really drawer me in more to continue reading. The last pages I didn’t even know were the last pages and I just wanted to keep taking it all in. Great book and would recommend to anyone!
The book that found me ❤️
I must say I truly enjoyed this read. I was unfamiliar with author Mirtha Michelle Castro Marmol prior to discovering “18 inches” book and now I’m proud to call myself a fan. It was interesting to learn more about her background. She writes with a genuine transparency that you can feel as she shares her truth in each chapter. Her poetry is not only eloquent but visceral in such a way that you can’t help but to be affected by it. I recently ended things with someone and couldn’t have imagined a better time for this read. I related to the chapters of love, loss, spirituality, past scars, growth, purpose and happiness. The familiar life lessons weaved throughout the book gave way to cathartic release but also pulled me back together as a loving friend would (I wish she was my friend LOL) Nevertheless, it is emotional but not overwhelming. If you’ve ever been in love, been shattered by love, love completely eludes you...but you still believe in love. This one’s for you.
Such an incredible book
I loved it, I read it the day I purchased. I’ve never related to anything more. And on such a personal level. I really loved it. Highly recommend to the broken 🖤
