For nineteen-year-old Ember, life has always been about death. With a simple touch, she can see when someone will die. It’s her curse and the reason she secludes herself from the world. The only person that knows her secret is her best friend Raven.
But that changes when she meets Asher Morgan. He’s gorgeous and mysterious and is the only person Ember can't sense death from. The silence instills in her mind and body allows her to feel things she’s never been able to before, so despite her initial reservations, Ember lets Asher into her life and lets herself to get close to him. But the closer they get, the more Ember realizes that Asher is keeping secrets from her.
When unexplained deaths begin to surface in her town, Ember questions why she can’t see Asher's death and what it is he’s hiding from her.
Recommend: Yes, if you’re really into fantasy books.
I was a little frustrated with how much she would keep to herself and that her family were too selfish to help each other. But, I enjoyed the romance and the twist of the half-breed prophecy.
A little confusing here and there. Lost track of a few characters as their names were not mentioned right away, so had a hard time recalling them. An interesting read otherwise.
Unique world and exciting story
I was really drawn in by how unique the story was and how you really were finding things out just like our lead character. One thing I would’ve enjoyed more would have been a little bit more in-depth descriptions in some areas and less in others. Sometimes when we were getting explained things it was like the characters had answers the reader didn’t. Which could be from my own lack of knowledge in this genre but I still enjoyed the story and characters. There were some typos but they were easy to overlook and didn’t bother me in the whole picture of the book. If you’re looking for a different kind of fantasy romance (it isn’t as graphic as it’s made out to be-but that’s my opinion) check this one out for sure!!! :)
