Publisher Description
From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Ashley comes the new book in her River Rain Series, Embracing the Change.
That Kiss…
Gorgeous New York socialite, Nora Ellington has been waiting a very long time for her happily ever after.
So long, she’s given up on it and has decided, even though she’s the plus-one friend without benefits to a man she’s head over heels in love with, an HEA will forever be out of her reach.
Handsome billionaire Jamie Oakley thought he’d had two happily ever afters in his life. However, neither lasted long, and both ended in tragedy. He’s not about to try it again or put his children through the trauma Jamie has learned from experience undoubtedly will come their way.
And he’s made this decision even if the woman who’s become his constant companion is a woman he loves straight to his soul….and wants with everything that is him.
But then, one night, Jamie loses control and kisses Nora.
He can’t go there.
She can’t go on without it.
They’ll never be the same.
Or will they?

Boring and Pointless
I love this series, and I love KA, but having said that, this is the most (as my headline reads) boring and pointless book so far. Barely anything interesting or noteworthy happens in the entire book. None of the main characters of the series have any real involvement, and we’re getting further and further away from the connection to the theme (River Rain). The main romance is just boring, ugh there’s no other word for it, because they barely have a reason to not be together and they realize that very quickly. After that, there’s zero excitement or thrill in the relationship because they’ve known each other for decades (decades?) so all that’s left is acknowledging that they are actually very well suited in bed together. Other than that, it’s just a bunch of pointless family drama, new characters that we don’t care about because we care more about the other children of the main characters in the rest of the series, long diatribes, and extremely minimal danger to the female MC (Nora). Nothing even remotely worth sneezing at. There were barely any scenes or mentions of other romances, on-going or new, other than Sully and Dru but not enough to get anyone excited about them possibly being next or even enough to fill a whole ‘nother book. The first two books had lots of interest with other characters’ romances but where are they? There’s also so many new characters being written that are just not interesting enough to warrant the inches they’re given. (And G-force? Really? Because they’re gay? I’m sorry, that feels so lazy…) Please stay focused, please write stories for the characters you got us interested in at the beginning, please keep in mind the theme, please please, please. I can’t waste another $5.99 on a snooze fest. I’m also mildly concerned that after all these books, she’s getting bored with the main characters (since she’s writing so many new ones) and won’t go back to them to write their stories and we’ll just never get to read their books because she’ll move on to other series (which won’t be the first time!!). Please, please, please don’t do that. I mean this is one of the first books in the series to not give any indication as to who the next one will be about. !!!!
Very concerning, very disappointing.
