It’s Gutenberg time… again

We are now on the edge of a digital age, and our civilization is undergoing the most significant changes in information reproduction, storage, and access technology since the invention of movable type. Physical media still has a ways to go, but, like the scriptoriums in medieval monasteries, I don’t think anyone would disagree that its days are numbered.


And yet, the good news for libraries is that the future doesn’t just happen, it’s made. And it is within librarians’ power to effect the changes necessary to ensure that their libraries not only survive the coming changes, but thrive.
