Everything was fine, until he showed up.
In the mid 1990's, fresh out of high school, teen Emmy Marsh spends most of her time with her friends, in her uncle's coffee shop. After working part-time at Marsh's Manor, the coffee house has become part of her identity, something all of her friends would agree with. So when new employee Bellamy arrives, she's not happy.
The coffee shop is known as one of the most popular cafes in Patton Place. Run by Frederick and Noah Marsh, but most of its success, however, comes from the dedication, Emmy herself.
But Emmy's perfectly organised world turns into chaos with the arrival of Bellamy Vella, the newest employee at her family's cafe, hired to take over from her uncle. His wit, charming personality and hospitality had managed to win over her friends, her family and her customers.
All except Emmy, however, who is much more reluctant to succumb, but for reasons that haven't gone unnoticed by her nosy and opinionated friends. But as they are both forced to work with one another, there is nothing to be done but get along.
Soon clashes between a headstrong Emmy and a determined Bellamy become the norm, even as the two grow and get to know one another, to the dismay of those around them.
Now, with things being handled at Marsh's, and Emmy's status up in the air, her friends are left to their own devices as they deal with the challenges in their own lives, of juggling family, friends, relationships and school, while leaning on - and bickering with - each other.
