Publisher Description

Growing up in New Orleans, basketball became my escape from the challenges and struggles of my childhood. As a young teenager, I quickly became known around my neighborhood as a basketball star. I was dedicated to the game and devoted much of my time to it, practicing tirelessly to perfect my skills.

Despite my love for basketball, I couldn't shake off the allure of the street life. Growing up in a community where drug dealing, gang violence, and crime were the norm, I found myself drawn to the dangers of the streets. I found solace in the acceptance I received from the guys in the hood who idolized me for my basketball skills but also encouraged me to indulge in the street life.

Before I knew it, basketball was no longer my priority, and my commitment to the game began to dwindle. I got involved in a dirty game, dealing drugs, and taking part in gang-related activities.

One night, I was caught in the act and arrested. I was only eighteen years old at the time and had no idea how the events of that night would change my life forever. I was sentenced to five years in prison. It was the lowest point of my life; I had wasted my talents in the hood and ended up in jail for a crime I deeply regretted.

While I was in prison, I was consumed with regret for the choices I made that landed me behind bars. But, I also realized that I had the opportunity to turn my life around and start over once I was released from prison. During my stay in prison, I felt a deep sense of remorse for the way I had let down my loved ones, and especially for squandering the God-given talent that had brought me so much joy and hope.
