Erbella Playbook

This is my playbook for robotic laparoscopic general surgery. I created this manual to help me improve efficiency and patient safety. With it, I performed more robotic surgeries in a single day than any other surgeon before me.

I’m sharing this book with surgeons who are starting their practice in robotics or have experience and want to make changes and improve their efficiencies and reduce their waste. It’s also for every team member, from scrub tech to circulating nurse and anesthesia providers.

Part One are the ground rules and details we should consider when we build and organize our teams. I show you how I plan my day. I show you how I flip rooms and maximize my time.
Part Two are my recipes, or plays, for the most common procedures I perform. Each surgery is described in two pages along with a diagram of port sites.
Part Three is what I do to enhance recovery. Inspired by enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) preoperative protocols, I go a few steps beyond with my recovery diet and instructions.
