Publisher Description
Jack Baker was a big deal. Now, he's living at home with an abusive father and working a dead-end job that mocks his existence. Memories of failure and a self-destructive lifestyle have kept Jack from moving on. Until Katie Delmonico bursts into his life, a stunning young woman running from a past of her own. Their flirtatious work friendship at Waterbury Liquors blossoms into love.
But an old rival, Short Bus, obsessed with Katie, manipulates her for his own twisted agenda.
Jack reaches out to the local sheriff for help, but Short Bus is an elusive and deadly foe, not easily bested. Separated, confused, and desperate, neither Jack nor Katie are equipped for the trials they'll soon face.
Set in a small Maryland town during an oppressively hot 1993 summer, Jack and Katie's love affair is pushed to the breaking point that will set them on a path they may never be able to divert.

A wonderfully entertaining debut novel
This is the most entertaining novel I've read in years. Hard to believe this is J.F Sebastian's first novel because he writes like a pro. His characters truly come to life. I cared deeply for these characters from beginning to end. So many exhilarating and emotional ups and downs. One moment you are falling in love, the next you are on the edge of your seat with suspense. It's the type of gritty, pulpy, 90's noir you just don't find anymore, yet it has a strong beating heart like no other. Don't let this one pass you by; this page-turner is well worth your time and money. I can't wait to see what this writer puts out next.
