Food for your soul
Throughout these pages, throughout the stories – one for each day – Mary disarmingly and in an easily readable way recounts her days in a transitional cabin on Hunters Road in the mountains of Virginia. Some stories are flashbacks and others contemporaneous accounts of her life and how believing in a higher being has enabled her to embrace and rise above life's challenges. As I read through the days, I laughed, I cried, and I couldn’t put the book down. But I found this is not a book to read through in a hurry and lay aside as I have gone back to the stories again and again. It’s more like a guide. Mary sensibly decided on a daybook format as it gives time to contemplate each story. She also shares at the end of each story a few takeaways that can make life better. There is something here for everyone and that's good because I'm a guy. Some may think this book is directed towards a female audience but these passages feed our souls too. In fact it’s breakfast, lunch and dinner for my soul and I’m grateful to have this amazing work on my bedside table.
