Vibrant, catches the eye. Good use of color and choice of font. Synopsis sounds like another winner for D.D. Ayres! Looking forward to reading the newest book in the series!

Third person POV.
Noah's a former cop, former firefighter, now explosives K-9 handler / Arson Investigator. When he is found unconscious and his dog, Harley's, found tied up nearby in an empty store next to the one Carly just readied for her grand opening, Carly assumed he was homeless, drunk, and or high. But when a fire erupts while she's trying to rouse him, the stakes become deadly and saving their lives just painted a giant target on her back as well.
Having read the other books in the series, I could not help but feel that this was a darker, edgier, and grittier story than what D.D. Ayres has given us in the series up 'til now. Arson, attempted murder, obsession, stalking... it's all there. Throw in a delusional pyro and you have a lethal combination of elements to create one hellava Thriller / Suspense packed with plenty edge-of-the-seat action, some romance and some K9 inclusion.
I really loved how Carly and Noah were together, their chemistry was fantastic and their compatibility was Flawless (pun intended). The secondary characters ranged from vital additions to enjoyable, but unnecessary, page-fillers; they were diverse. Dialogue was mostly natural feeling and the interaction was believable, usually. The plot was exciting, it had plenty of dimension and depth. The flow was quick and evenly paced, allowing you to fly through the pages quite easily from the need to know what would happen next. There were a few conflicts along the way, but it seemed neither cared as they both did what they wanted to do, regardless of the consequences. Ultimately, the climax was dynamic. Predictability was pretty low. The conclusion is mostly solid and satisfying, allowing for an implied HEA. I wish there would have been a little more to the epilogue. I was interested in seeing a little more on how well Carly and Andy would interact as well as how Harley would take to them being together in a more permanent manner. I think I would have liked to have seen Durvan eat a big ol' bowl of CROW after all he'd put Noah through. Overall, it's a really good addition to the K9 Rescue series, but only if you like your RomSus a little lighter on the Romance and a little darker on the Suspense.
