"Gritty, grim, yet surprisingly personal and poetic, Eyes to See is like nothing else in its field. Make time for this one." —Seanan McGuire, New York Times bestselling author of the October Daye and Incryptid series
“Brings urban fantasy to a new level. Heartbreaking, deeply insightful, powerful, and genuinely thrilling. Joe Nassise has just raised the bar for the whole genre.” —Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author of the Joe Ledger series
"I gave up my eyes to see more clearly."
Harvard professor Jeremiah Hunt's life fell apart in the wake of his daughter's disappearance. His obsessive search for her cost him his wife, his job, and his reputation. And now, thanks to a Faustian bargain he makes with the empty-eyed and enigmatic Preacher, it takes his sight as well. In return, he's granted the gift of seeing what others cannot; ghosts and other supernatural creatures of the night.
With the help of his ghostly companions – Whisper and Scream – he embarks on a new career banishing malevolent spirits that torment the living while continuing his search for clues to Elizabeth's fate. What begins as a search for his daughter turns deadly when a particularly cunning foe lays a trap that ends with Hunt accused of a series of brutal murders.
Now Hunt must fight not only to save his daughter's life but his own as well, against a dark and ageless foe that would use a father's love to set itself free.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Nassise (the Templar Chronicles) takes readers on a bumpy trip through Boston's magical history and dark secrets. Jeremiah Hunt, blinded in a magical ritual that he hoped would help him locate his missing daughter, can speak to the dead and see through their eyes. When obscene murders are committed near Boston, Hunt is unofficially called in to feel out the vibes, and he soon learns that no human could have committed these crimes. Plot twists lead to a crescendo of paranormal activity. Witchcraft, ghosts, raunchy humor, and mayhem keep things moving, but Nassise has an unfortunate habit of emphasizing Hunt's blindness and then offering vivid visual descriptions of Hunt's surroundings, which undercuts the intriguing concept of a blind man navigating the paranormal world's real and metaphorical shadows.
Customer Reviews
Best book I’ve read in awhile!
After completing this book fairly quickly (bc I couldn’t put it down!), I was rushing to buy the next in this series but wanted to
leave a review...
I absolutely love that every chapter of this book places a small piece of an elaborate puzzle together. It’s def not a story that you’ll guess the ending.
The characters are very well written and well developed. You fall in love immediately. Not with just the characters but the story.
I think Hunt is a force to be reckoned with and can’t wait to continue to see where this journey leads him. There are too many things to note as to why I enjoyed this tale so much but the dose of supernatural, true lore, jumping from the the past and present and a rollercoaster, just to name a few!
I love this book and I’ll continue with Hunt on his journey as long as it continues.
I’ll be tuned into ALL of this authors (Joseph Nassise’s) past and future endeavors!
Jumping to the next book in this series!
