Nineteen-year-old Itana has spent her life inside a temple devoted to Tera, the goddess of earth. Gifted with the power to see every soul, she has become an instrument in Tera's hands — who lives and who dies depends on her decision.

Every twelve years, the Harvest comes and claims thousands of lives. Itana has made a promise to a friend, and to keep it, she must find a cure before time runs out. But the answers lie beyond the temple walls, and the moment she leaves, she discovers the truth: she was never free, only a prisoner, bound by magical runes.
