Not quite done yet
If you were hoping this would be the final confrontation with the Goddess, it’s not. While the hero Mimori Touka has put together a huge coalition of allies, the goddess Vicius has crafted a strategy that shifts the battle to her terms on her turf.
Not to get into too many spoilers, but the latter part of the story is about setting up epic battle pieces between selected heroes and villains. Warning - it can get pretty brutal. It’s also a ticking clock - events happening elsewhere could be critical to the final outcome. Vicius is facing deadlines…
But before that, much of the story is about how Touka has changed over the course of his revenge quest, and how much he has shaped the lives of those who have fallen into his orbit.
From someone initially despised and detached from others, he is now part of a web of relationships. Some familiar faces return. Mimori is not the person he was when the saga began.
There’s enough cliff hangers and foreshadowing to set the stage for the next volume - but it also raises the bar for the author to deliver something that will wrap it all up. This volume is a little too much like filler material to be fully satisfying.
That’s my two cents; YMMV.
