This one has consequences
"Secrets were dumb, but maybe sometimes you had to keep them anyway to not hurt people’s feelings."
Jasmine can't keep a secret, but when she finds a pretty bottle of perfume in her sock drawer, she figures out what it is by others not telling her what it was. And then she finds someone who wants to stop her from doing her task
These books are what introduced me to the wonderful world that is Emily Martha Sorensen. While the other ten books are kinder, this one sounds a bit more realistic because I agree that there are both good things and bad things about the tests these kids are given, and the others know it. Jasmine used to be friends with them, why won't they help her? This one I recommend with a caveat that a "grownup" be around to talk about it. 4/5
