Cute and smart
This was cute! The characters were smart, even as they did some dumb things. The author handled the tropes skillfully. The whole “hiding things with good intentions/reasons” trope can be very frustrating, and while of course you’re yelling at the characters to come clean, she pulled it off better than most. It helped that both characters had similar reasons for hiding, so neither could get on a high horse about it.
Fake it Til You Make It
OMG ! First time reading this author but it definitely won’t be the last. I loved the story, the characters, the writing just everything. So used to reading a romcom/romance filled with expletives and bedroom scenes that I couldn’t believe I found this jewel. Didn’t want to put it down and didn’t want it to end. Read this book I can promise you won’t be disappointed.
Fake it til you make it
So I was reluctant to buy this book because I’m so tired of the fake boy/girlfriend trope. After reading the sample i decided to give it a shot and I’m glad i did. Yeah there’s that trope but it’s really not about that, it’s more about people pretending to be something there not and the lies we end up telling to keep the pretense up. Abby and Ted are great characters, very true to life with their confusion, a little bit of cowardice without being cringy. I loved the way they met. Definitely will buy another Laura Carter book
