Publisher Description

Teacher Kate Abbott’s fresh start in Still Harbor was the beginning of the life she and her two best friends had always imagined for themselves. Still, being a working single parent hasn't exactly improved Kate’s love life. But Kate’s preference for nachos over men quickly disappears when she meets the oh-so-sexy Matt Lane.

Until she finds out he’s a cop.

Matt is a former cop-turned-private investigator, and he knows fear when he sees it. A cop clearly spooked Kate...or hurt her. Still, something about the gorgeous professor catches his attention, and despite his “no settling down” policy, he can’t resist her. But all of the attraction in the world won’t be enough to overcome Kate’s past…

Does Everyone Have to be Perfect?

It’s so easy to guess the flow of this book from the get go: Woman accidentally spills a drink on a sleeping passenger on plane; her bag was accidentally unloaded from the plane while stopping over for passengers at another airport, meets guy in bar, dumps her drink on him, insert lots of out-of-character flirting, and then finding out that the scientists she was sent to audit includes the same man from all of the above.

Sharona is a likable character who I was able to understand. Her life wasn’t exactly where she wanted it to be and she definitely didn’t want to be in Australia on a boat that was going to track sharks. I can’t say as I blame her because sharks…, well, I would rather be face to face with a bear, thanks.

Jeff? Definitely easy to like. Ms. London definitely did her research about tracking sharks and how scientists study why sharks are able to survive in any temperature of water, as well as their mating habits. I found the facts that were interlaced in the story to being absolutely interesting and even found myself eyeing my Netflix account to watch a documentary or two. Though, I do prefer the sharks in Finding Nemo a whole lot better.

No matter, Ms. London is a gifted writer whose other sweet romance books I will be one-clicking. I thoroughly enjoyed Love Bites and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Note: This is part of Entangled Publishing’s Bliss line, which are books that are sweet romances, with bedroom activities behind closed doors. There is no sex in this book, just innuendo, steamy kisses, clumsiness, and lots of playful flirting.

He's almost too good to be true!

Kate and her two best friends each adopted daughters and moved to a safe town called Still Harbor. While out with the girls, Kate meets Matt. For him the attraction is instant. For her the attraction is there but so are the many questions. Is he an abuser? Can I trust him? And so on. Somehow, someway, Matt wiggles his way into Kate's life. She even starts to trust him until one day when he asked how she knew Derek Stinson. That was the one name she never wanted to hear again.

This is a fantastic, highly emotional story about life after emotional and physical abuse. There's no abuse taking place in the story except for glimpses of the past. Keep the tissues handy because there are some moments that you just can't hold back the tears. I fully understand Kate's reluctance to let Matt into her life. He's almost too good to be true. No one has ever taken her side, which is why she feels she has to fight tooth and nail for every advancement in hers and Janie's lives. Janie has Downs Syndrome, which is another reason Kate has to be extra careful who she lets into her life. I love this author's writing style and I can't wait for the next book in this fabulous series.
