Stardust the Super Wizard, one of the most eccentric characters of the Golden Age, first debuted here in a story written and drawn by Fletcher Hanks. Stardust is an alien from an unnamed planet—in some stories, a star—whose "vast knowledge of interplanetary science has made him the most remarkable man that ever lived." While Superman is often criticized as being so powerful that stories featuring him lack drama, Stardust's powers are downright godlike. Stardust usually stops a villain's scheme in the first few pages, and spends the rest of story devising and executing bizarre and sadistic punishments on the evildoers. Fletcher Hanks' folk-art style and flat-out weird concept of storytelling make Stardust a fascinating character for all the wrong reasons. This issue also features the adventures of Samson, Space Smith, Sub Saunders and others.
