Beatrice and Matthew’s Seafaring Adventure
“Farewell, My Rogue” penned by Amanda Mariel is a part of her Regency Hearts Aflame series. This novella can also be found as part of the multi author series Revenge of the Wallflowers. This starts out as a tale of a woman scorned seeking revenge against the man who done her wrong. Beatrice Sinclair is that woman, headstrong, intelligent, talented, calculating. A great character for this type of story. The object of her revenge is Matthew, Earl of Lorne, a thoughtless yet charming member of the ton. When Beatrice’s plan to Shanghai Matthew goes awry, she is taken aboard ship with him. The two are locked in a room below deck, sparsely furnished with one small bunk. This forced proximity, enemies to lovers Regency romance works wonderfully in this seafaring adventure. The banter between Beatrice and the unrepentant rogue Matthew is sharp and on point. This story is a joy to read as the multilayered Beatrice and Matthew have their complicated layers stripped away as their feelings for one another begin to shift when they truly get to know one another. We get to see characters from other Mariel stories in her Regency Hearts Aflame stories. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and the main characters. The story is open door, the intimacy is tastefully written. The story did get a little too sappy towards the end, but then again true love and a happy ever can be sappy. I definitely recommend “Farewell, My Rogue”. Read and enjoy.

Interesting Voyage
Matthew bet she would fall in love with him by the end of the Season, and he did. Beatrice was hurt and humiliated when she learned what he had done. For three years, she planned revenge. She would have him kidnapped and put on a ship to America. Beatrice just had to watch it happen. Unfortunately, she was caught and put aboard the ship with him. The captain refused to turn the ship around. They will sail to America together, a voyage that has many possibilities. One thing is certain. They will have the opportunity to know each other better. It seems that there is more to Matthew and Beatrice than meets the eye. A voyage across the Atlantic, a ship’s captain with good advice, a visit in Boston, and the return voyage results in a happy ending. Cute story and great characters.
