Farm Stories

These short stories, written by the author of CASTAWAYS: THE PENIKESE ISLAND EXPERIMENT and THE UNMARKED ROAD, each recount an event in a young boy’s life that will later influence his thoughts and actions as a Marine squad leader in Vietnam. The boy, Johnny Carter, has lost both his parents at the start of World War Two and is sent to live with his widowed aunt who still uses horses to farm 200 acres on the New York State side of Lake Champlain. The six FARM STORIES all begin with scenes from farm life during the war and then fast forward twenty years to Vietnam.
