Fast & Furious (Gun Control ‪)‬

Remember, shortly after President Obama took office, there was a lot of discussion about the problem of criminals buying guns in the U.S. and taking them to Mexico? Remember how "the gun show loophole" was at fault for the level of violence in Mexico? A number of people then pointed that most of the guns being seized in Mexico did not come from the United States at all--or if they did, they were generally military weapons that would have been supplied by our government to the Mexican government. Originally, the Obama Administration claimed that 90% of guns used by criminals in Mexico were from the United States. More recently, they are now claiming that 70% of the guns were from the U.S. (1) However, this is 70% of the guns that "Mexican authorities asked the ATF to trace." (2) Guns that were obviously not American-made or imported into the U.S. were not traced.
