Scot McKnight does a good job tackling this important discipline. From explaining how both parts of a person (body and soul) should be incorporated into our faith to the history of fasting, this is a must for anybody interested in the topic. It's also important for anybody who thinks that the discipline of fasting is antiquated or unnecessary. Christians are not called to discipline the spirit only but the body as well. This book explains why and how we should do that.
