Publisher Description

Fate wasn't supposed to have plans for me.

I'm an outcast, a loner. The boy named for death who never quite started to live.

But then Poe came back--the girl I once kissed in a thorn-covered chapel in the woods. She brought back memories long-buried, and I could no more resist her than I could pry out my own heart. She brought up secrets, and set rituals into motion. She brought me to the man who owns Thornchapel, Auden Guest.

And then she found the bones.

The only thing Auden and I can agree on is Proserpina Markham, and she wants us to find a way to be together--all three of us. But the past casts a long shadow. Eight years ago, I did something terrible to Auden. He hurt me back the only way he knew how. And so here we are: our hatred seasoned with pain and my loneliness spiked with longing.

If Auden wants to earn her as his submissive, then he has to earn me as well. That was the promise he made.  But with the carnal revel of Beltane fast approaching, it's becoming clear that Thornchapel's secrets are much deeper and older than any of us could have ever guessed. They're making us complicit. And they will have a cost. Because no matter how bright and merry a feast of sparks may be, it's always followed by ashes.

And darkness.

The Ending is a NO

I don’t even want to give this a 1 star rating. I loved the book, mostly, except I just felt like they all wanted each other. Instead of some reason to justify being together, they should have just went for it. Without the ending, it was a solid 3 star read.

Before I go further: I am cool with books of all kinds and read a variety of books, including those with storylines of: LGBT+, an orgy/multiple people, BDSM, and I have read Sierra Simone’s books of “Priest” and “Sinner” and loved them!!! <—That should tell you how bad the ending is.

But this ending is a big fat NO without a warning that this is where the author is going. I wouldn’t have read it to begin with. It was jarring and shocking and I was rooting for these 2 characters to have their HEA!!!! They started to get it and then that crap happened ((that one character **truly knows** prior to HEA)) and I had to re-read the description to make sure I didn’t miss something. I wanted to puke. It made me feel weird and not in a good way. :-(

I don’t want to even finish this storyline, so I hope it gets clarified really quickly in the next book in the first lines of Chapter 1 or one hell of a Prologue that proves it’s not true!!! HOWEVER, if this part is made true in the future books, I will probably wait to read future Sierra Simone books until enough spoilers have come out.

What a crazy second book

I thought I knew what to expect. I’ve read other series by Sierra. I read the first book.

My heart broke over and over in this book. I was so sad and so happy so many times. Sierra gives you something only to yank it away. I can’t wait for the next book.

Great second installment!!

Picks up where Bride of Thorns stops. The friends are getting ready to celebrate Beltane. As more details about the death of Poe’s mother come to light, she needs to reconcile her feelings.

This series is amazingly written. Super spicy and gripping. I love how each installment wraps up nicely yet still leaves plenty of loose ends for the next installment. You learn more about Auden and Saint’s backstory. Can’t wait for the next book.
