Feeling Good ( The New Mood Therapy )

I received this book as a recommendation from my Therapist in 1995. The book helped me more than the therapist did, he really shouldn't have recommended it cause after I started reading it I never went back to see him... From the first paragraph I was hooked and already learning valuable tools to help myself break free of the depression that had plagued me most of my life. In 1995 I was 29 yrs. and had been married to my husband & best friend since I was 17 yrs. and we had a son who was 7 yrs. at the time. My 29th year I consider my coming out year, because it was the year that I finally found my way out the dark tunnel that I had been stuck in.. I can't begin to explain how great I felt when I realized that I had come out into the light and could finally close the tunnel behind me. I no longer felt the need to hide in that tunnel. With this book and loving and supportive husband & family I have kept moving forward in my life. It is a daily work in progress, but one that comes so easy to me now that I know that no matter what I feel it is ok. And my best is good enough, my best is mine and not anyone else's!!! I am uniquely me and I accept and embrace myself fully flaws and all. I wear my flaws a badges of honor because I earned them all on this crazy journey that is my life!!! Being totally and completely honest with yourself every time you look in the mirror is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself!!! It also feels great to look in the mirror and love what I see, I love myself and I know that I am not perfect and never will be and that is OK!!!!! Please get this book and let it do for you what it did for me. ( side note during the 1995 to 1996 years I bought and gave to friends and family 10 copies of this book, that is how much I believe in Dr. Burns message... Come out of the dark and join me in the light... Charlene❤

If there is any one book you need to read on this subject, let it be this one. This book has changed my life. I owe Dr. Burns a great deal of gratitude for this book. The strategies in this book will turn your dark days into sunshine. It all starts with controlling and managing our thoughts. I am buying this book and giving it away to family and friends.

Life changing

I’ve read and re-read this book since the early 2000s when things had gotten bad for me. Amazing. Insightful. Life-changing. And a must-have for anyone who’s ever dealt with depression.
