From the moment Imani met Garret she knew her attraction to him would bring them close. They got married shortly after under unusual circumstances. Little did Imani know that she was walking right into the cluster**** that surrounded Garret's entire life.

Imani soon find herself caught in the middle of the wheeling and dealing, scheming and double-crossing between Garret, his brother Raymond and his ex-wife Shannon. The relationship between Garret, Raymond and Shannon were a complex one. It made Imani face the fact that she didn't really know enough about the man that was her husband. He wasn't an open book and he wasn't sharing much of himself. He was self-reliant, stubborn, determine, and had trust issues. He was making decisions by himself that affected both their lives and leaving her in the loop and that didn't sit well with her.

The story started in the present but was told mostly in reflections; was well crafted and as it unfolded I was curious and anxious to see how it all began and how it would end. I don't want to give too much away so you'll have to read it for yourself to find out how it all played out.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I was pulled in from the very beginning wondering how these two people came together and had things happen and descend into chaos so quickly. Imani was a strong career driven woman who was thrown off balance after meeting Garrett. Garrett had issues withb other people - trust issues, family issues, loyalty issues because of his past experiences. When these two came together the chemistry was undeniable but because of Garrett's issues the road to happily ever after was quite bumpy for them. Imani was a really good woman to stand by her man like that as he tried to work through everything. I was glad to see how things ended as I found myself questioning more than once how this couple would be able to resolve all of their issues. I loved how the author alternated back and forth between the past and present and ultimately how these two and their relationship grew. I would definitely recommend this book.

Imani has her life planned out for her until she meets Garret who turns her world upside down and inside out!! But will this relationship last or will it fizz out?? I love how the author gets real descriptive in all her books and this one is no exception!!
