Stephen King: "Put me down as an enthusiastic Christopher Smith fan. Smith is a cultural genius.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
If Lee Child and Jackie Collins had collaborated on a remake of Tom Wolfe’s Bonfire of the Vanities, it might have resembled this gloriously over-the-top thriller, the first in a series. With their decades-long history of betrayals, revenge, and casual flings, the Ryan and Redman families have long been Manhattan’s Hatfields and McCoys. But now Louis Ryan wants to take down his rival, George Redman, for good, even if he loses everything in the process. Pulsing with sex, violence, street-level energy, and penthouse decadence, Fifth Avenue is entertainment that’s rush-hour intense.

Excellent and thrilling!
Quite surprised that this is a "first" novel by the author Christopher Smith. Fifth Avenue is set in Manhattan, New York and tells a tale of corruption, greed and revenge. The characters in the novel are brilliantly introduced and you often wonder if this book is actually a work of fiction. The plot has lots of twists and turns, while the reader discovers the long raging feud between the two main character families. Fifth Avenue is definitely a page turner that keeps you in suspense throughout the whole novel. I cannot wait to read future novels by this author and would recommend this novel to readers who like books that hold mystery, intrigue, suspense, revenge and hatred.. It grabbed my attention from the first page and the tension only built as the book went on. Mr Smith, you're an excellent writer of thrillers. You can be sure that I'll be reading more of your books. Thank you for a thrilling read!
Decent Plot, Shallow Character Development
The plot’s okay-nothing spectacular. The characters were just pieces on the board and their development were just as shallow. You really don’t get to know any of them and don’t feel any connection to them. If they die, so what. Except when the __ dies. I was upset by that. But only because it was a ___. (Trying not to spoil it even though it’s not a significant part of the story.)
But the story took place in Manhattan, so that was fun. Other than that, I don’t get why everyone loves it so much.
What is the true pub date?
This book is the first of five in a series, the other four have earlier pub dates, so how does this have a pub date of 12/28/17 ? I suspect that it is the pub date of when it was converted to an ebook and not the real pub date. Something the iBook site does far to often.
