In recent years the United States has responded to global terrorism largely as a physical threat. This book seeks to redress this imbalance by focusing on the battle of ideas. It looks at the beliefs that motivate Islamist terrorists and how the U.S. might counter them, drawing on the lessons to be learned from previous ideological conflicts.
