FILTHY RICH: The Performance

You want to be rich. Maybe very rich. Maybe not private-jet rich, but at least 'I don't check the price before ordering' rich.

Fair enough.

But most of us do not wait until we become rich to start behaving like rich people. We practise. We upgrade things too early. We celebrate money we have not made yet. We call expenses investments because it sounds better.

FILTHY RICH is a sharp, humane social satire about money, status, ambition, comparison, lifestyle, ego, and the wonderfully creative lies we tell ourselves about all of them. It looks past the polished image to ask what our performance of success is really costing us — and what we are actually searching for when we say we want more.

You may recognise people you know. You will definitely recognise people online. Unfortunately, every now and then, you may recognise yourself.

This book is not here to shame you for wanting a better life. Want the house. Want the freedom. Want the ridiculous hotel breakfast. Dream big. Just know what you are paying for.

Because this book is not really about becoming filthy rich. It is about understanding why you want to be.
