Publisher Description
Jordan. Many travellers choose to go to Jordan just to see a single sight - Petra. And it is in fact the country’s highlight. The ‘Rose City’, as it is often referred to, was discovered relatively recently. Yet, a number of legends sprung promptly about this incredible spot. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg placed a fictitious last crusade there, starring Sir Sean Connery, which exaggerated the extent of the rock-hewn structures of Petra. This since has fuelled many fantastic stories and speculations about the size of the site. And how big the interior of the monuments and chambers of the rock-hewn buildings are. Still, the city exists. It is very real, amazing and rather stupendous. Ironically, though, hidden in the flash-flood canyon, it appears like a mirage as the hot air of the desert shimmers, trying to deceive your senses.
This short book describes the author’s personal and unique experiences during his trip to Jordan in June 2012. The book contains 52 original photographs taken during the trip, description of places to eat, drink, sleep and socialise with the locals. It covers Wadi Musa and Petra, the Wadi Rum Desert, Aqaba, Karak, Jerash and a resort at the Dead Sea.
