Lonely, college-bound Caroline is obsessed with Felicity, the late '90s television show about a girl who follows her crush to college. And because her high school social life is virtually nonexistant, she has been lying to her mother for years, pretending the show's characters are her real-life friends. When Caroline's mother learns the truth, she worries that her daughter isn't ready to leave home just yet. But after agreeing to Skype sessions with a therapist, Caroline is off to Ashmore University, the school of her dreams along with her own crush, Liam ("He's my Ben"). Kade (For This Life Only) throws plenty of wrenches into Caroline's plan to reinvent herself as someone less socially awkward, but she offers Caroline lifelines, too, including a second chance with Liam and a potential romance with another boy. This novel about romantic indecision and starting over at college should please adult readers who enjoyed the show in its heyday, as well as today's teens for whom it's a cultural artifact. Ages 14 up.

Honestly when I saw this title was available for request I jumped right on it. Personally I'm a die hard fan of Felicity , that was enough for me want to review it. Maybe it was fate because around the same time I was just started binge watching Felicity on Hulu. See fate then I read the blurb and I was hooked, just to fill in the readers who haven't watched the show it ran in the 90's on the CW it was a very popular show.
Caroline Sands is an 18 year high school graduate, who is a bit of an introvert. She has a problem that she is terribly shy and has a hard time talking for anyone. Add to that she is socially awkward even when she is trying hard to fit in makes it cringe worthy. She had only one friend in high school well sort of. I really didn't get the feel that they were close "friends". Her parents divorced three years ago she and her mother left New York for Arizona. She arrived in Arizona and couldn't make any friends since most of them known one another since Kindergarten. They traded her as an out cast except her Ben. Fats forward to graduation her mom throws her a surprise party thats when Caroline starts to panic. You see she had created her own Felicity world and had fed that very lie to her mom. Her mom freaks and is devastated also disappointed in her daughter. She takes Caroline to psychiatrist to get her evaluated to see if she was ready to leave the nest for college. After the psychiatrist basically labels her he gives Caroline an ultimatum make friends and not to revert back to Felicity fantasy land or come right back home. What her mom and the psychiatrist don't know she is already has a plan in placed that is Felicity inspired. Cue in face palm. She is so dead set that this will work boy is she in for a reality check.
Caroline is obviously my favorite character she is the star of this show. I could relate to her in our love for the show. We also share some personality traits I think. Her shyness and her inability to make new friends. The author did a great job in making Caroline relatable in that fact that what high school grad doesn't want to reinvent themselves in college and leave high in the dust. What I enjoyed the most while reading is Caroline was letting go of her fantasy world bit by bit. Their was some set back in the beginning which made me get frustrated with her that I just had to stop reading. She would god back to her comfort zone and lie. Then again a m into later I will pick right back up because I wanted to see what would she do next.
This book touched some very good points that teenagers awaiting college need to acknowledge before they go out in to the world. College life can be tough on a freshman living far away from home. Especially if the person has a hard time making friend and maybe a low self esteem issue? Also being responsible when going out to party.
Since I had already seen the show I had an inkling of how his would play out. In some parts of the book I predicted was high they rest surprised me. Half way through the book I had an idea of how Caroline's Ben would be boy was I wrong on that one. He tuned out to be Nolan. Over all I enjoyed this book I would really want a year two, three, and four but hey I know we all can't pleased. That is how much I enjoyed this book I'm pleased I discovered this author can't wait to see what she comes out with next. This is truly a coming go age book see a young woman becoming an adult or better learning to be an adult.
