Detective-Inspector McCarthy of Scotland Yard C.I.D. is assigned to the case of Lord Arthur Warnecke, who has been murdered in his mansion, and his safe cracked and rifled of its sensitive contents. McCarthy finds from the start that this is no easily-solved case.
