The brave firefighters and paramedics of Howe Fire Department are still reeling and barely able to cope after the tragic death of Fire Chief John Brewer. His brothers, Keith and Danny, are too grief-stricken to return to work. No one has seen or heard from them since the fatal shooting. Could this be the end of Howe Fire Department and the close bonds John worked so hard to build?

No one knows what to think when Duke Broebeck bursts onto the scene to fill John's shoes and pull the firehouse family back from the brink. Duke doesn't make any friends by flexing his authority and taking charge, but that might just be exactly what the firehouse needs right now.
