CIA covert operator Savannah James is after intel on a potential coup in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but she needs a partner to infiltrate the organization. Sergeant First Class Cassius Callahan is the perfect choice, except he doesn’t like or trust her, despite the sparks that flare between them. Still, he accepts the assignment, knowing Savannah will pose as his mistress.
They enter battle-worn Congo to expose the financing for the coup. Betrayal stalks them as they follow the money deep into the heart of a jungle where cobalt, gold, and diamonds fund treason. Savannah will stop at nothing to bring down the would-be dictator before he can ignite a firestorm that will engulf all of Africa.
Deep in the sultry rainforest, spy and Green Beret forge a relationship more precious than diamonds, but Cal knows Savannah is willing to sacrifice anything—or anyone—to complete her mission.

Firestorm
An exciting story with lots of action. A little too wordy, but worth the read.
All Rachel Grant books are excellent
Romantic suspense is my favourite genre and in my opinion Rachel Grant is one of the best authors out there. I have read all her books and there isn’t a dud among them. Her heroines are smart and sassy, her heroes are strong, heroic but also believable and her books lead you on a journey that will excite and intrigue. She fits in plenty of drama, lots of heat and you never feel cheated by the ending. I can’t recommend any of Rachel Grants books strongly enough if you’re a romantic suspense fan.
CIA Meets Green Beret
Savannah James is CIA and is not very well liked by the men of Special Ops. They don't know her exact title, but know she's a "spy". Cal Callahan and Savvy are like oil and water, constantly bickering while fantasizing about each other. Their chemistry is off the charts. When Savvy chooses Cal as her partner, he reluctantly accepts the assignment. In reality, he's been asked to spy on Savvy while posing as a antiquities dealer. As Cal and Savvy work together, they soon realize they're being set up. On the run in the Congo, Cal and Savvy discover corrupt government officials, Russian Mafia, and an American preacher. Can they trust each other enough to destroy evil?
Mystery, intrigue, rainforests in the Congo, mini history lessons, scorching hot romance.....this novel has it ALL!!! I loved this novel. Rachel Grant's masterful writing grabs you from the first sentence. Make sure you have the afternoon free as you won't want to put this one down once you start reading. It's the third novel in the series and can be read as a stand-alone, but I encourage you to read the others as they will give you more insight into the "mystery of Savvy". I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
