Five Golden Rings

We understand truth far better when we see it lived out in the lives of others. For some reason, seeing real flesh-and-blood examples moves truth from the intangible to the tangible…from the abstract to the concrete…from the theoretical to the practical. Paul understood this when he encouraged the Christians in Corinth to “Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1).


Matthew, the writer of the first book in the New Testament, also understood the importance of wrapping bones and sinew around truth so others could see what it looks like up close and personal. He painted a majestic portrait of Jesus, awash in bright colors and vivid details, showing Him to be “Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham” (Matthew 1:1)


And yet Matthew paused five times in his genealogy to identify specific women who were part of the line of Jesus. So what is it about these five women that makes them so special? And what can they teach us to help in our own journeys of faith?


Simply put, that’s the focus of this book. It's a journey of discovery that explores the five wives and mothers in the genealogy of Jesus...and the lessons we can learn from their lives.
