Lucky I discovered this is book one with a cliff hanger!
The beginning of the story seemed a bit of a struggle and forced chemistry. I think it would have been better if the author left out the need for a casual hook up instead of a real relationship on behalf of Maive. It just seemed awkward. However, the story line did eventually work out and things progressed more organically. It drew me in and then I struggled to put the book down. I almost gave a terrible review because of the ending! She ended it right as the climax happened and then boom! I stayed up late into the night reading and then first thing this morning only to get to the terrible ending! Just… The end! No HEA in this one! Then I realize this is book one and there is a sequel. Shew!
