Publisher Description
Flashman and the Seawolf introduces a new member of the Flashman family and provides an illuminating insight into life in Georgian England and the extraordinary adventures of one of Britain's least known but inspirational naval commanders.
From the brothels and gambling dens of London, through political intrigues and espionage, the action moves to the Mediterranean and the real life character of Thomas Cochrane. This book covers the start of Cochrane's career including the most astounding single ship action of the Napoleonic war.
Thomas Flashman provides a unique insight as danger stalks him like a persistent bailiff through a series of adventures that prove history really is stranger than fiction.
Customer Reviews
For Fans Of The Original Flashman By Fraser
I am a huge fan of the original Flashman books by George MacDonald Fraser which I stumbled onto back in the 1970's. I approached this series with a bit of scepticism, but have been pleasantly surprised. I have read the first two - about Cochrane and young Wellington. The character is vividly drawn, the plots are fast paced and dense with action, and (like Fraser) the author places his anti-hero in the thick of events with famous real characters. Overall it's an entertaining way to read about figures you may have heard of but not learned much about. I'm going to pace myself and keep reading.
Flashman Lives!
Brightwell does a great job extending this series to another Flashman relation.
