출판사 설명

The New York Times bestselling author of the Tradd Street novels tells the story of a woman coming home to the family she left behind—and to the woman she always wanted to be....

Georgia Chambers has spent her life sifting through other people’s pasts while trying to forget her own. But then her work as an expert on fine china—especially Limoges—requires her to return to the one place she swore she’d never revisit....

It has been ten years since Georgia left her family home on the coast of Florida, and nothing much has changed except that there are fewer oysters and more tourists. She finds solace in seeing her grandfather still toiling away in the apiary where she spent much of her childhood, but encountering her estranged mother and sister leaves her rattled.

Seeing them after all this time makes Georgia realize that something has been missing—and unless she finds a way to heal these rifts, she will forever be living vicariously through other people’s remnants. To embrace her own life—mistakes and all—she will have to find the courage to confront the ghosts of her past and the secrets she was forced to keep....

Well written and Engaging

The three main characters, Georgia, Maisy and Birdie, taking turns telling this story. I liked having the perspective of three different people as the story progressed. There are many events in the story that all tie together in the end. Very good book! Easy to read, keeps moving along and the characters are well developed.

Awesome book!

I really enjoyed reading this book. You get to know the characters easily and it's very detailed. It has a great ending as well. I like the way she writes. It's like you can see everything in your head more so than you would even if you watch the movie of the book, of had one. Very good read.

Brilliant!

This book slowed down my reading speed so that I could relish each written word and the eloquence of Karen's style of writing. The characters' silent memories and truths constantly tear at their minds as they either block out the past, live in the moment, live in the past, or they are afraid to look towards the future. Secrets and the clues to these secrets keep you in suspense. You wonder how everything will fit together in the end. Even though the chapters are divided amongst sisters Georgia and Maisy, and their mother, Birdie, there are more characters that have deep connections with their lives. I love how bees are intertwined throughout the book, with snippets of Ned's Beekeeper's Journal at the beginning of every chapter. I always learn a lot when I read Karen's books, and this well-researched novel is no exception. I loved it! [I received this advanced copy as a giveaway winner from Goodreads through the publisher, Berkley/Penguin Random House.]
