My name is Calliope and "I bone for a living." Kidding. I am studying to be a paleontologist though. It's the only thing I've ever wanted to be, and I have finally landed the perfect museum internship to make all of my dino-loving dreams come true.
Trouble is, everyone wants me to be a gentle, loving sort of creature, but I'm more of the T-Rex type by nature - the kind who is determined to stomp and tear her way through any obstacle in order to get what she wants.
But when a sexy, rumbly-voiced astronomer plummets into my orbit and threatens to break open my hard little heart, my career and my whole way of looking at the world is suddenly on the line.
The dinosaurs didn't see their asteroid coming.
And I sure as hell wasn't prepared for mine.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Talk nerdy to me! In her first book, Erin Mallon—an award-winning audiobook narrator—charms us with a geeky meet-cute story set in and around Philadelphia’s Museum of Natural Sciences. There, budding astronomer Ralph and education intern (and aspiring paleontologist) Calliope are busy working on establishing themselves in their dream careers. But when an intimate moment amid the fossils goes viral, Mallon’s charming duo are forced to choose between the jobs they love or their new romance. We couldn’t get enough of Calliope’s quirky voice. Flirtasaurus’ hilarious dialogue practically begs to be read out loud.
Flirtasaurus by Erin Mallon
“And the kicker is they almost always do it for love. They meet someone and fall in love, then give up everything else they said they wanted.”
Flirtasaurus by Erin Mallon was a fun debut novel! The characters were quirky, flawed, and relatable, and I love that it featured a woman in a science field. At times, I found myself laughing out loud at the awkward banter between Calliope and Ralph and appreciating the sweet moments between the nerdy characters. Overall a light and enjoyable read!
Very cute! Quick and easy ready! Loved it!
Not a fan
Calliope’s thoughts and interactions with people were ridiculous. I really tried to keep reading because I wanted to see where things went with Ralph, but I couldn’t get halfway through it. All of her conversations made me cringe. She would talk nonstop and actually cut people off like their thoughts didn’t matter. I think the author was going for quirky and cute but it was just off-putting.
