Flowers for Algernon

This was such a good novel. Makes you realize we are all capable of much good, and sadly it brings to your attention that there is also a capability in each of us to fear what we don't understand, and what people don't understand they hate. I would highly recommend this book.

A classic.

Everyone should read this book, just be ready to cry.

Nothin but the Best ,

Read in one sitting!

Two years ago I was part of the cast of "Flowers for Algernon" and the story completely engulfed me. It was the first (and so far only) time that I cried both on and off stage. When I went out for the curtain call I had to wipe the tears away from my eyes! Last week I came across the script tucked away on my bookshelf. After reading through it (and reliving those emotions all over again) I decided I would give the book a shot. As soon as I started I could not put it down. Seeing things that were cut out of the play fascinated me. I was completely immersed in Charlie's world. The only complaint I have with the novel is that it's too short. There were many questions left unanswered and it left me wanting more. However, the more I thought about it the more I realized that's how it should be. If Charlie didn't get answers; why should we?

I was completely overcome by the story two years ago and after having read the book where it all started I am completely overcome once again!
