Publisher Description
The Duke of Jervaulx was brilliant and dangerous. Considered dissolute, reckless, and extravagant, he was transparently referred to as the ′D of J′ in scandal sheets, where he and his various exploits featured with frequency. But sometimes the most womanising rake can be irresistible, and even his most casual attentions fascinated the sheltered Maddy Timms, quiet daughter of a simple mathematician.

Great love story
Beautiful love story. Dragged a bit, but worth it in the end. One of my new favorites.
The worst book I ever read
The plot is ridiculous. The FMC is quite possibly the most self-righteous, sanctimonious, and hypocritical character I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading about. I cannot comprehend how people consider this a classic 5 star read.
Probably the best romance novel I have ever read
The only flaw, if you can call it that, is that it is bit long. Besides that it has everything you could hope for. Jane Eyre is my favorite novel and I loved the similar themes. I never felt easy, which I find incredible. I felt precisely as MaddyGirl and the D of J did for most of the novel. It is wonderful when a writer can do that. It made the ending that much more special. And, I appreciate that this wasn’t a fluffy kind of romance like I am used to reading. It hurt my soul at times and warmed it too. This depth of feeling is not usually something I experience with romance novels.
The little details were spectacular as well. They made my heart ache. Ugh! It truly was a wonderful story.
