For Gold or Soul‪?‬

The aptly-named Faith is a religious fanatic. She's 17 yet her ardent Christian views make it hard to picture her so young. She's willing to forgive a thief and she cries with forgiveness when a lady who tried to poison her is punished - the poison could have resulted in Faith's death and possibly killed others yet Faith is deeply insulted when a man buys her chocolates. She even refuses the gift. She is also offended when the same man smiles and tips his hat to her. His behaviour shocks her yet she's all heart for someone who planned to kill her.
