What if democracy were practiced differently — at a scale where neighbors might actually work together to enact change?

This book offers a quiet reimagining of representative government, built on three tenets that, practiced together, could transform how collective decisions are made. Governance groups would be formed solely by geographic proximity, with boundaries drawn by mathematical algorithm rather than by political map-makers. Those groups would be kept small enough — roughly ten people — for every member to know every other member personally, so that selection would rest on observed character rather than constructed image. And representation would flow upward through successive tiers, with each small council selecting one of its members to join nearby representatives at the next level, all the way to planetary coordination.

Other matters — fiscal arrangements, rights protections, cultural shifts — would be treated as considerations shaped by the communities themselves rather than as requirements imposed from above. What is offered here would not be a plan to be obeyed, but a pattern to be explored.
