Publisher Description

Remember the days of poring over your favorite band's expansive album artwork and liner notes while listening to the music, trying to get a deeper sense of what went into the creation of the record? Multi-platinum rock band Shinedown wants to bring that experience back - but in a bigger, better, and fully immersive way, only for the iPad.

FOR YOUR SAKE: Inside the Making of Shinedown's Amaryllis is an interactive album experience that tells the official story of Shinedown's new album, Amaryllis, through over 75 beautifully designed pages of words, stunning never-before-seen photos, videos, and more. Written by rock journalist Jonah Bayer and produced by Atlantic Records, FOR YOUR SAKE offers the only authorized account of the band's follow-up to their massively successful album, The Sound of Madness. The book takes the reader inside the story in a truly innovative way using Apple's new iBooks 2 - a first of its kind for a major recording artist.

Featuring four jam-packed sections of content:

• PART I: MAKING AMARYLLIS: Taking the reader inside the creative and recording processes and exploring the journey of the band's evolution through the making of the album.

• PART II: INSIDE SHINEDOWN: Revealing the band dynamics and how the four members worked together through both successes and struggles to make their vision of Amaryllis a reality.

• INSIDE THE SONGS with Brent Smith: In his own words, frontman and principle songwriter Brent Smith dissects the album track-by-track, providing unique insight and perspective about the genesis of the album's songs, including high-quality video commentary.

• INSIDE THE ARTWORK with David Harrigan: The Atlantic Records Creative Director who designed the album's complex artwork explains what went into this extremely rewarding process, dissecting the intricate elements of the beautiful piece of art. It also features an interactive image that lets the user explore the artwork on their own by diving into the individual elements to learn the meaning of their symbolism.

For both fans of Shinedown and music-tech enthusiasts everywhere, this book is a one-of-a-kind experience that's not to be missed.

    Through the looking glass...

This was the perfect companion to Amaryllis! My sister, niece, and I drove around listening to Amaryllis and talking about what the songs meant to us, and how they made us feel - as well as which ones were our first listen favorites. We then came home and downloaded this amazing iBook. Watching the commentary on our big screen TV and exploring the artwork was wonderful! The closest I can compare it to would be holding my first "gatefold" album cover back in the day and devouring every morsel of information from the music and album. Thank you for bringing that experience to the digital age!

Anyone considering this iBook, whether you are a Shinedown fan or just a fan of music, it's a wonderful look into just what this band went through giving birth to this album. It allows us all a glimpse through the looking glass into a world most people have never seen.

    Standing Ovation

I've been a SHINEDOWN fan since the fall of 2004 and I am so grateful to have been through all the changes, resulting in what they've become today. AMARYLLIS is pure genius! SHINEDOWN should be so proud of themselves.
FOR YOUR SAKE is brilliantly done. I enjoyed every aspect of it. This ebook is most definitely a treasure for SHINEDOWN fans. A few statements from bass player, Eric Bass, really hit the nail on the head for me:
"I like being that band that makes people say, 'That's not what I expected them to do, but it's really good.'" It's more like over-the-top, MOMPtastic! SHINEDOWN and many people have asked me what MOMP means and I've always said that it has no meaning. It's just a silly word I say, kind of like how Smurfs use the word, Smurf. Well, SHINEDOWN defined MOMP for me:
"I like to stare at the sun and think about what I've done. I lie awake in my great escape. I like crossing the line and slowly losing my mind. Are you ok? Cuz I feel fine. Maybe it's me, I'm just crazy. Maybe I like that I'M NOT ALRIGHT." Thank you, SHINEDOWN for helping me explain myself to the world!
"Every time you look at the album cover, you see something new that you didn't see before. It's like that when you listen to the record, too." Exactly! There is so much detail to look at in the album cover. I was pleasantly surprised by the horn section the second time I heard I'M NOT ALRIGHT.
The photos are breathtaking. It's like SHINEDOWN is popping right out of them. The photos are very creative, every subject well captured.
I pretty much knew what the songs were about, but frontman, Brent Smith's commentary (my favorite feature) gave me a greater appreciation for each one.
The explanation of the artwork is very interesting. Another awesome feature is that the album cover is shown with every song flagged with a reason for its' symbol.
I understand the pain of the fans who don't have an iPad. I bought FOR YOR SAKE on my dad's iPad. This ebook should be their incentive to get one.
I give a standing ovation to SHINEDOWN for all their hard work on AMARYLLIS, to all who were involved in making it a success and to all who created this magnificent piece of technology.
