Publisher Description

Foreign Minister Outlines Foundations of Turkey's M.E Policy Turkey's foreign minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, outlined in a recent two-part article what he described as the principles of his country's foreign policy. "This policy," he wrote in an article published by the Beirut-based influential daily AN NAHAR on June 25 and 26, "was launched in the beginning of the current decade in line with 21st century developments. Through this policy, Turkey wanted to establish a strongly grounded vision on how to best employ its historical heritage and geographic position. To implement an effective foreign policy, Turkey had to abide by six principles," he said in the article, which also appeared in Sharq Nama, a Cairo-based Arabic-language periodical specializing in Turkish, Iranian and Central Asian affairs.
