Forced to attend the Surmata run Suoja Guild, Evie finally has hope for a better life. But her new freedom comes at a cost. Dark forces work against her, even within the safe walls of the demon hunter's school. With her father still on the loose, Evie must be extra diligent to watch her back.

When her friend Maximillian introduces her to his housemates, she can't fight the sense of déjà vu she feels whenever she's near them. Humans and Suramata can't be together, so why does it feel so right to be with them?

I like it

I like this story, I was waiting so long to finally find out what happens next. The author has created a very unique and interesting world and set of characters.

I think this could be better of we stop learning new things about the main character constantly. Although this is book 2, I feel like it's still a "get to know Evie" thing the whole time when we should be familiar with the main character by book 2...also, some phrases and words are used incorrectly. Co-ed means mixed gender. Etc. overall I enjoy this and look forward to the next book. I hope book 3 will have the story moving forward a bit more and be a little less overdescriptive :) good job!

Loving this series!

I LOVED this book1 This has easily turned in to one of my favorite series! You have to read the first one before you read this one but it is so worth it. I love where the story is going and I can't wait for the next one to come out. This author, AJ Anders, creates a world with other beings that have been completely created by her and it's amazing. Do yourself a favor and buy both books to this series.

Good, but I wanted the story to move forward

I received and ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The story is good, although a bit repetitive. I expect some recap with a series, but I felt it was a bit excessive here. I wanted to see Evie's story move forward, but felt like I was stuck in the past. Having said that, I did still enjoy the book.
