Fall in love on Hazel Island with the start of a brand-new small-town romance series from USA Today bestselling author Iris Morland.
They’re just friends…until one kiss changes everything.
After a messy divorce, Gwen Parker retreats to idyllic Hazel Island to start a new life. She has no time for relationships now, not when she has a bed and breakfast to run.
No matter that her friend, the gruff and ruggedly handsome Jack Benson, makes her yearn for more.
Yet Gwen knows that she’s too broken from her first marriage to risk heartbreak a second time.
Jack Benson prefers to live a solitary life. As a fisherman, he’s well-aware that relationships, like the tides, come and go.
Gwen is special, though. She makes him want a different life, one that he never thought he’d want.
But Jack can never act on his attraction to Gwen and risk ruining their friendship.
When temptation proves to be too much, Jack and Gwen can no longer ignore the heat between them.
As the past rears its ugly head, can these two friends let go of old heartbreaks to embrace a newfound love?
Good start to this series. Interesting characters. I’m looking forward to seeing more of them in the future.
What a lovely story set against the backdrop of the equally lovely Hazel Island, where everyone knows everyone else’s business. Only there are some scars found only on the inside, and Jack and Gwen go though quite the journey to finally find their new beginning together. Uncomfortable topics like addiction, homelessness, and abuse are generally difficult to read about, but Iris Moreland has an acute sense of how to introduce readers to real people with real issues. I have been a fan of hers for a long time and always look forward to the way she welcomes me to her innermost feelings, which, of course, lead me to a better understanding of myself. Beautiful!
Gwen owns a Bed and Breakfast on Hazel Island. Her ex husband cheated on her and told her something was seriously wrong with her when it came to sex.
Jack had a rough childhood because his mom was an addict. He left her and his little brother in Seattle and moved to Hazel Island. He learned the fishing trade, purchased a boat and started his own business.
The storyline was well written and kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed the wonderful characters and thought they had amazing chemistry.
