You don't fall for the best friend of your ex-wife, the daughter of your employer, or the high school sweetheart of your brother. Particularly because they're all the same lady.
There are a few fractures in the devoted heart that beats under Brick Callan's mile-wide chest. He is the unwavering, overly cautious kind. particularly in regards to the one lady he will never be able to have. It's a lengthy and convoluted past laced with conflicts, family, friends, and an infatuation that tests his unbreakable resolve.
Brick sets out to discover what caused the shadows in Remi Ford's once-bright green eyes when he returns to Mackinac Island in the middle of winter with a secret. Even if it means dismantling the barriers he's placed between them. even if doing so means falling in love with the one girl he will always love.
The free-spirited artist merely has to disappear for a few weeks in order to work through her ordeal. She is not going to remain. Not when the guy who repeatedly shows up at her parents' dinner table breaks her adolescent heart into splinters. Again, Remi doesn't need a bearded, moody Brick to come to her aid. Not when it will cost them much more than just their hearts and put them both in jeopardy.
Writer's Note: Enemies become lovers. It is true that opposites attract. Burn slowly. A girl in peril. Wonderful, wonderful conversation. Combat as pre-game. Shenanigans in small towns. Large, sour, lustful, overly protective hero. The wild-child heroine who is always getting into trouble and pushing the hero's buttons. Level of Steam: Lava. Nervousness: chewing nails. Feelings: Deep and profound.

So good!
I ate up every bit of this story. Brick and Remi have this fire between them that builds with intensity until the middle of the book. Then fireworks explode uncontrollably. The story takes twists and turns with a little mystery that keeps the book stuck in your hands and those chores waiting for your attention.
It’s a thick book of 564 pages full of love, mystery, abuse and fighting, excitement, break ups, get togethers, punishments, drama, consequences, rare art, and a fire headed pistol of a young lady that captures all the attention in every room she enters, especially the steel blue fire gaze and the enormous, protective heart of the mountain of a man she nicknamed, Brick, who took it upon himself to be THEE protector of this little, wild, strong-willed, Remington Honeysuckle Ford.
The past collides with the present, and two people that were always meant to be—but ran away from each other for years,— finally found themselves in each other’s passionate and insatiable embrace, and they can’t get enough of each other.
Good defeats evil once again, and love wins!
Now I need to go visit this Mackinac Island that Brick, Remi, Camille, Warren, and all the others that drew my undivided attention to for a month.
Before that, I’m going right now to find another book by Lucy Score.
THE BEST LUCY SCORE BOOK
EXCUSE ME?!?!?!?! how is there not more hype around this book? what's wrong with y'all??? this is by far the best Lucy Score Book! I hated the nickname Brick, but I lurv Brick. ugh what a scrumptious man. Also the things that Remi would say made me cry from laughter, like to be in her mind would be amazing.
I almost don't want to talk about it because the less you know about it the better it is.
Just know that this book can do no wrong.
